Indications
Viclovir is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible viruses, especially in the management of herpes simplex, both in primary infections and recurrent episodes. It is also used in the treatment of varicella zoster and in the prophylaxis of herpes infections in immunocompromised patients. Acyclovir administration is essential for reducing the viral load and preventing complications associated with these viral infections.
Composition
Each Viclovir ampoule contains 250 mg of Acyclovir, as well as necessary excipients for its formulation.
Contraindications
Viclovir is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to acyclovir or any other component of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with pre-existing kidney disease and in those with a history of adverse reactions to antiviral treatments.
Precautions
Careful monitoring of renal function is important during Acyclovir treatment, especially in elderly patients or those with underlying conditions that may affect renal function. Dose adjustment is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency. Furthermore, dehydration should be avoided, and adequate hydration ensured during treatment to prevent renal toxicity.
Storage
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep in its original packaging and protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
