Indications
Vick 44 Syrup is indicated for the relief of dry and productive coughs. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant, helping to loosen and expel secretions from the respiratory tract, thereby facilitating breathing. Dextromethorphan, on the other hand, is an antitussive that suppresses the cough reflex, providing relief from irritating coughs. This medication is useful in the management of symptoms associated with colds, flu, and other acute respiratory infections where coughing can be bothersome and disruptive.
Composition
Each 100 ml of Vick 44 Syrup contains: 1.33 g of guaifenesin and 0.133 g of dextromethorphan.
Contraindications
Vick 44 Syrup is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. It should also be avoided in patients who are using monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in those with severe respiratory diseases, such as severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of substance abuse, as dextromethorphan may be associated with the potential for abuse. Likewise, special care should be taken in patients with cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, or liver diseases. Its use is not recommended in children under 2 years of age.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
