Indications
Vibramycin is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is used in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and tick-borne diseases, among others. It is also effective in treating certain mycoplasma infections. Doxycycline is an antibiotic from the tetracycline family that acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, making it effective against a wide range of bacteria. Additionally, it is indicated for malaria prophylaxis in areas where resistance to other antimalarial drugs is a problem.
Composition
Each Vibramycin capsule contains 100 mg of doxycycline, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
Vibramycin should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to doxycycline, other tetracyclines, or any of the formulation's components. It is contraindicated in children under 8 years of age, as well as in pregnant and breastfeeding women, due to the risk of adverse effects on fetal and infant development.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. Renal function monitoring is recommended, and excessive sun exposure should be avoided, as doxycycline can cause photosensitivity. Care should also be taken in patients who are being treated with anticoagulants, as it may increase the risk of bleeding.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
