Indications
Viagra is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men. Erectile dysfunction is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, which facilitates the achievement and maintenance of an erection. This medication is not an aphrodisiac and does not improve libido. It is important that the patient is sexually stimulated for the medication to be effective.
Composition
Each Viagra tablet contains 50 mg of sildenafil as the active ingredient. In addition, it contains excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, and others that facilitate the product's formulation.
Contraindications
Viagra is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sildenafil or any of the product's excipients. It should not be used in patients taking nitrates in any form, as it can cause a severe drop in blood pressure. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe cardiovascular disease or severe liver failure.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Viagra in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, especially those who may be affected by sexual activity. Likewise, its use should be considered in patients with liver disorders, as this may alter the elimination of the medication. It is advisable to consult a doctor before starting treatment, especially if other medications are being taken.
