Indications
Vfend (Voriconazole) is indicated for the treatment of invasive fungal infections, including invasive aspergillosis, esophageal candidiasis, and other systemic fungal infections caused by susceptible fungi. This medication will be used in immunocompromised patients or those with underlying diseases that predispose them to fungal infections. It is also indicated as empirical treatment in patients with persistent febrile fever and neutropenia, as well as in fungal infections that do not respond to other antifungal treatments.
Composition
Each Vfend tablet contains 200 mg of Voriconazole as the active ingredient. It also includes excipients such as lactose monohydrate, corn starch, and other additives for tablet formulation.
Contraindications
Vfend is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to voriconazole or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in combination with certain medications that can cause significant interactions, such as rifampicin, carbamazepine, or phenytoin.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with hepatic impairment, as voriconazole elimination is affected in these cases. Likewise, monitoring is recommended for patients who experience visual disturbances, as alterations in visual acuity and changes in color perception have been reported. Renal function should be evaluated in patients receiving prolonged treatment. Finally, prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided due to possible photosensitive reactions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
