Indications

Vfend is indicated for the treatment of invasive fungal infections caused by susceptible fungi. It is especially useful in the treatment of invasive aspergillosis, esophageal candidiasis, and other systemic fungal infections. This medication is effective in immunocompromised patients, including those with prolonged neutropenia and organ transplantation, as well as in patients with fungal infections resistant to other antifungals. Monitoring of voriconazole plasma levels is recommended to adjust the dose according to clinical response and adverse effects.

Composition

Each ampule contains 200 mg of voriconazole as the active ingredient. Excipients include: sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, and water for injection.

Contraindications

Vfend is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to voriconazole or any of the excipients. Its use is not recommended in combination with certain medications that may interact negatively, such as rifampicin, carbamazepine, and other potent CYP450 inducers.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with liver or kidney disease, as they may require dose adjustments. Likewise, the possibility of drug interactions and the need for clinical monitoring to avoid adverse effects should be considered. Visual function should be evaluated, as ocular adverse effects have been reported in some patients.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
