Indications

Verzenio is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with advanced or metastatic breast cancer, specifically those with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) disease. It is used in combination with an aromatase inhibitor as initial therapy, or as monotherapy in patients who have received prior endocrine therapy. This medicine acts as a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, which interferes with the cell cycle and limits cell proliferation in hormone-sensitive tumors.

Composition

Each Verzenio tablet contains 150 mg of Abemaciclib as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

Verzenio is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Abemaciclib or any of the excipients in the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of severe toxicity to other oncological agents.

Precautions

Liver function monitoring is recommended in patients starting treatment with Verzenio, as hepatotoxicity has been reported. In addition, special care should be taken in patients with a history of thrombocytopathies or at risk of bleeding. It is essential to assess the risk of infections, as treatment may affect the patient's immunity.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
