Indications
Verquvo (vericiguat) is indicated for the treatment of adults with chronic heart failure, specifically in patients with reduced ejection fraction. This medication is used to reduce the risk of hospitalization due to heart failure and cardiovascular death. Its mechanism of action involves the activation of soluble guanylate cyclase, resulting in vasodilation and improved cardiac function. It is important that the use of Verquvo be part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes lifestyle changes and other pharmacological interventions as needed.
Composition
Each Verquvo tablet contains 2.5 mg of vericiguat as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Verquvo is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vericiguat or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with systolic blood pressure below 100 mmHg. It is also contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women, due to the lack of safety information in these populations.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Verquvo to patients with severe renal insufficiency or those receiving concomitant antihypertensive treatments. Regular monitoring of blood pressure during treatment is essential. Additionally, the possibility of interactions with other medications that affect blood pressure should be considered.
