Indications
Valextra is indicated for the treatment of virus-caused infections, including herpes simplex in adults and children. It is effective in treating outbreaks of genital herpes and for reducing the frequency of episodes in patients with recurrent infections. Furthermore, it is used for the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles) in adults. It is also indicated for the prophylaxis of herpes infections in immunocompromised patients.
Composition
Each Valextra tablet contains 500 mg of valacyclovir as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Valextra is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to valacyclovir, acyclovir, or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency without proper medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of neurological diseases, as the use of Valextra may be associated with adverse effects on the central nervous system. Dose adjustment is recommended in patients with compromised renal function, and renal function should be monitored during treatment. Additionally, the use of this medication in pregnant or breastfeeding women should only be considered if the benefit outweighs the potential risk.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in its original packaging, away from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
