Indications

Utrogestan is indicated in the treatment of conditions related to progesterone deficiency, such as premenstrual syndrome, secondary amenorrhea, and in hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women. It is also used as part of infertility treatment in women with insufficient progesterone levels. Its main function is to help regulate the menstrual cycle and maintain pregnancy, promoting endometrial development and preventing premature uterine contractions.

Composition

Each Utrogestan capsule contains 200 mg of progesterone as the active ingredient. Additionally, it includes excipients such as gelatin, glycerin, and other inactive components that facilitate the medication's formulation.

Contraindications

Utrogestan is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to progesterone or to any of the components of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in cases of undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, history of breast cancer or hormone-dependent organ cancers, and in cases of severe liver diseases.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of depression, cardiovascular diseases, or thromboembolic disorders. It is important to have medical follow-up during treatment to detect possible adverse effects. Its use is not recommended in pregnant women without proper medical supervision.
