Indications
Macrodantina is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections, such as cystitis and pyelonephritis. Its action is based on inhibiting bacterial growth by interfering with protein synthesis and cell membrane function. It is primarily used for urinary tract infections caused by nitrofurantoin-sensitive organisms, including Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus saprophyticus. Additionally, it can be used for the prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infections. It is important that the use of this medication be supervised by a physician, who can determine the duration of treatment and the appropriate dosage based on the patient's clinical case.
Composition
Each Macrodantina capsule contains 50 mg of nitrofurantoin as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Macrodantina is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitrofurantoin or any component of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal insufficiency, as it can lead to drug accumulation and toxicity.
