Indications
Insulex R is indicated for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication is suitable for patients requiring strict control of their blood glucose levels. It is generally used in combination with other oral antidiabetic medications or as monotherapy in patients with type 2 diabetes. Human insulin acts by reducing blood glucose levels by facilitating its absorption into cells, thereby allowing for better glucose management.
Composition
Each ml of Insulex R contains 100 IU (International Units) of human insulin and necessary excipients for the formulation. Excipients may include sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide to adjust pH, and water for injection.
Contraindications
Insulex R is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to human insulin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered during episodes of hypoglycemia or during diabetic ketoacidosis without appropriate treatment.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with liver or kidney disease, as well as in those with a history of allergic reactions to insulin. It is essential to adjust the dose in situations of changes in eating habits, physical activity levels, or during episodes of illness. Constant monitoring of blood glucose levels should be performed to avoid episodes of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
Storage
Insulex R should be stored at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Once opened, the vial can be stored at room temperature (below 25°C) and must be used within 28 days. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children.
