Indications
Gliozac is indicated as adjunctive treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication is used in combination with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults. Pioglitazone works by increasing insulin sensitivity, allowing the body to use insulin more effectively. Its use is indicated in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control with metformin or sulfonylureas. Additionally, it can be used in combination with insulin.
Composition
Each Gliozac tablet contains 30 mg of pioglitazone as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Gliozac is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pioglitazone or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, active congestive heart failure, or a history of heart failure. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart failure, as pioglitazone may increase the risk of edema. Liver function should be monitored before and during treatment. The risk of fractures should also be assessed, especially in postmenopausal women. It is important to adjust the dose in patients with renal insufficiency and to regularly monitor blood glucose levels.
