Indications
Arcoxia (etoricoxib) is indicated for the treatment of acute musculoskeletal pain, as well as in the management of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. This medication is also used in the treatment of pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps) and in the management of postoperative pain. Its mechanism of action is based on the selective inhibition of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which is involved in the production of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation and pain.
Composition
Each Arcoxia tablet contains 60 mg of etoricoxib as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that allow for the formulation of the tablet.
Contraindications
Arcoxia is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other NSAIDs, as well as in those with active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe heart failure or in those who have recently suffered a myocardial infarction.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypertension, renal or hepatic impairment. It is important to monitor kidney function and blood pressure levels during treatment. Concomitant use with other NSAIDs should be avoided, as this may increase the risk of adverse effects. In case of symptoms such as abdominal pain, bleeding, or changes in urine, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
