Indications
Aranesp is indicated for the treatment of anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, in patients receiving hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis therapy. It is also used for chemotherapy-induced anemia in cancer patients, as well as in those with anemia caused by myelodysplasia. Darbepoetin alfa stimulates red blood cell production by acting on bone marrow progenitor cells, resulting in an increase in hemoglobin and improved quality of life in the affected population.
Composition
Each Aranesp syringe contains 300 micrograms of darbepoetin alfa, as well as excipients that contribute to its stability and efficacy.
Contraindications
Aranesp is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to darbepoetin alfa or to any of the excipients. Its use should also be avoided in patients with uncontrolled hypertension or in those with a hemoglobin increase above recommended levels, as this may increase the risk of cardiovascular adverse events.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, as well as in those who may have an increased risk of thrombosis. It is important to monitor hemoglobin levels and adjust the dose according to the patient's response. Aranesp administration should be performed under the supervision of a physician, and adequate blood pressure control should be ensured during treatment.
Storage
Aranesp should be stored in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze and protect from light. Pre-filled syringes must be used before their expiration date.
