Indications
Aprovel (Irbesartan) is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction and stroke. Additionally, it can be used in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy, with and without hypertension, to slow the progression of kidney disease.
Composition
Each Aprovel tablet contains 300 mg of irbesartan as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients: lactose monohydrate, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Aprovel is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to irbesartan or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 15 ml/min) and in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
Precautions
Special caution should be exercised in patients with a history of renal artery stenosis, moderate hepatic or renal insufficiency, and in those who are receiving diuretics. During treatment, it is important to monitor renal function and serum potassium levels. In pregnant women, its use should be avoided, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to possible adverse effects on the fetus.
Storage
Store in its original packaging at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
