Indications
Amlodipine is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and chronic stable angina. This medication acts as a calcium channel blocker, which allows the relaxation and dilation of blood vessels, thus facilitating the reduction of blood pressure. It is also used in the management of angina, improving myocardial perfusion and decreasing the frequency of anginal episodes. It is important that the use of Amlodipine is supervised by a physician, who will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment, considering the individual characteristics of the patient.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Amlodipine (as besylate) 5 mg. Excipients: Lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to amlodipine or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock, severe heart failure, and in those with severe aortic stenosis. It should not be used during pregnancy and lactation unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with hepatic, cardiac, or renal insufficiency. Blood pressure should be monitored regularly during treatment. In addition, it is advisable to avoid alcohol intake, as it may increase the hypotensive effect of amlodipine. It is essential to inform the doctor about any additional medications being taken to avoid interactions.
