Indications

Amcef IM is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to ceftriaxone. It is used in the management of lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gynecological infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and bacterial meningitis. It is also effective in the treatment of sepsis and in surgical prophylaxis to prevent postoperative infections in high-risk surgical procedures.

Composition

Each ampoule of Amcef IM contains 1 g of ceftriaxone. Excipients: water for injection and other inactive excipients.

Contraindications

Amcef IM is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in neonates (under 28 days old) who require treatment with calcium-containing solutions.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis. It is important to monitor kidney function during treatment, as ceftriaxone can cause kidney toxicity. In case of severe allergic reactions, treatment should be discontinued immediately. Concomitant use with other antibiotics without medical supervision is not recommended.

Storage

Amcef IM should be stored in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
