Indications

Amaryl (glimepiride) is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control. It is used in patients who cannot achieve adequate blood glucose control with diet and exercise alone, or when control is unsatisfactory with other oral antidiabetics. It can also be used in combination with insulin or with other oral antidiabetic agents. Glimepiride works by stimulating insulin secretion from the pancreas and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.

Composition

Each Amaryl tablet contains 2 mg of glimepiride as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silica, magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Amaryl is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glimepiride or to any of the product's excipients. It is also contraindicated in type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma, and in patients with severe renal or hepatic insufficiency.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with liver diseases, kidney problems, or who are being treated with other medications that may cause hypoglycemia. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended. Amaryl administration may require dose adjustments in case of changes in body weight or the patient's lifestyle.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in its original packaging. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light and moisture.
