Indications

Alprazolam is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and anxiety disorders associated with depression. Its mechanism of action is based on the modulation of the activity of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system, which produces an anxiolytic, sedative, and relaxing effect. It is important that the use of this medication be carried out under strict medical supervision, as it may be necessary to adjust the dose based on the patient's clinical response.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Alprazolam 2 mg. Excipients: Lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Alprazolam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to alprazolam or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with closed-angle glaucoma, severe respiratory failure, and those who are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering alprazolam to patients with a history of substance abuse, severe depression, liver or kidney disease, as well as those who need to operate heavy machinery or drive vehicles. In addition, prolonged use can lead to physical and psychological dependence. It is essential to follow the doctor's instructions and carry out adequate monitoring of the treatment.
