Indications
Akabar Suspension is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by bacteria susceptible to nifuroxazide. It is effective in reducing uncomplicated acute diarrhea, which can be caused by enterobacteria, as well as in preventing dehydration in patients with diarrhea. It is also used in the management of bacterial intestinal infections and in the treatment of gastrointestinal tract infections that present symptoms of diarrhea. Nifuroxazide acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which results in the death of pathogenic bacteria.
Composition
Each 5 ml of the suspension contains 200 mg of nifuroxazide and excipients necessary for the formulation.
Contraindications
Akabar Suspension is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nifuroxazide or to any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in cases of viral gastrointestinal infections, nor in patients with a history of severe liver disease or renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Akabar Suspension to patients with a history of chronic gastrointestinal diseases. It is important to monitor the patient's clinical evolution, as well as the possible appearance of adverse effects. If no improvement is observed within 48 hours, the diagnosis and treatment should be reconsidered. Prolonged use without medical supervision is not recommended. This medication should not be used in combination with antidiarrheals that may prolong the infection.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
