Indications

Akabar is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by bacteria sensitive to nifuroxazide. It is commonly used in the management of acute and chronic diarrhea, as well as in diarrheal conditions of bacterial origin. This medication acts by limiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms in the intestine, which helps normalize intestinal flora and reduce the duration of diarrheal episodes. It is important to note that Akabar should not be used in cases of viral diarrhea or in situations where a severe systemic infection is suspected.

Composition

Each capsule contains 200 mg of nifuroxazide as an active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as gelatin, titanium dioxide, and other components for the capsule formulation.

Contraindications

Akabar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nifuroxazide or to any of the excipients in the formula. It should also be avoided in cases of bloody diarrhea, high fever, or symptoms of severe dehydration, as well as in patients with severe renal insufficiency.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, such as colitis or Crohn's disease. It is advisable to evaluate the patient's progress during treatment and consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen. It should not be used in children under 2 years of age without the supervision of a healthcare professional. Furthermore, prolonged use of this medication is not advisable without appropriate medical evaluation.
