Indications
Advil is indicated for the treatment of various conditions requiring pain relief and inflammation reduction. It is used in the management of mild to moderate pain, such as: headache, dental pain, muscle pain, and menstrual pain. It is also recommended for the treatment of fever and as part of the management of inflammatory conditions like arthritis and osteoarthritis. Ibuprofen works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are chemical mediators involved in inflammation and pain processes.
Composition
Each Advil tablet contains 200 mg of ibuprofen as the active ingredient. In addition, it contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and absorption of the medicine.
Contraindications
Advil is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It should not be administered in cases of active peptic ulcer, severe renal insufficiency, severe hepatic insufficiency, and during the third trimester of pregnancy. Likewise, caution should be exercised in patients with asthma, heart disease, or a history of gastrointestinal problems.
Precautions
It is recommended to use Advil with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases, previous gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in those taking other medications that may interact with ibuprofen. It is important not to exceed the recommended dose and to consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.
