Indications
Aclasta (Zoledronic Acid) is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men, as well as for the prevention of fractures in patients with osteoporosis. It is also used in the treatment of Paget's disease of the bone and for the prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors. This medication works by reducing bone mass loss and decreasing the risk of fractures. Furthermore, it is used in the prevention of hypocalcemia in patients with multiple myeloma or metastatic disease, as well as in the treatment of drug-induced hypocalcemia.
Composition
Each bottle of Aclasta contains 5 mg of zoledronic acid and excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
Aclasta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to zoledronic acid or any of the product's excipients. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment (serum creatinine > 4 mg/dl) or to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal dysfunction, hypocalcemia, or those at risk of developing osteonecrosis of the jaw. A thorough dental evaluation is important before starting treatment. Additionally, it is recommended to monitor renal function and serum calcium levels during treatment.
Storage
Aclasta should be stored at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
