Indications
Alendronic acid and cholecalciferol are indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men. This medication helps reduce the risk of vertebral and hip fractures by increasing bone mineral density. In addition, cholecalciferol contributes to calcium absorption, which is essential for maintaining bone health. Its use is also recommended in patients with secondary osteoporosis associated with corticosteroids.
Composition
Each tablet contains 70 mg of alendronic acid and 5600 IU of cholecalciferol. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of hypocalcemia or in patients with esophageal problems that delay drug emptying. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastric or esophageal ulcer, swallowing disorders, or previously diagnosed hypocalcemia. Regular medical follow-up is recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and the patient's bone health. In addition, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake should be ensured during treatment.
