Indications
Methylprednisolone acetate is indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. It is used in the management of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other rheumatic diseases. It is also used in cases of severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and severe allergic reactions. It is important to note that this medication can be used in situations of adrenal insufficiency and in the management of certain neoplasms. Due to its potent anti-inflammatory action, it is essential that its use is carried out under strict medical supervision and in the context of a clear diagnosis.
Composition
Each ampoule contains methylprednisolone acetate at a concentration of 40 mg/ml. Excipients and the complete formula can be consulted in the leaflet accompanying the product.
Contraindications
The use of methylprednisolone acetate is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to methylprednisolone or any of the components of the formula. It should also be avoided in cases of uncontrolled systemic infections, active peptic ulcers, and in patients with certain health conditions such as advanced osteoporosis.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. Likewise, its use in patients with infections should be carefully evaluated, as the medication can suppress the immune response. Regular medical follow-up is advised to evaluate the response to treatment and adjust doses as necessary.
