Indications
Accortiz (Hydrochlorothiazide) is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, as well as for the management of edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and renal diseases. Hydrochlorothiazide acts as a thiazide diuretic, promoting the renal excretion of sodium and water, which contributes to the reduction of blood pressure and the decrease of fluid volume in the body. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensives to achieve better blood pressure control.
Composition
Each Accortiz tablet contains 50 mg of hydrochlorothiazide as the active ingredient. Excipients: corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate, and others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to hydrochlorothiazide or to any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with anuria or in those with severe renal insufficiency. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gout, diabetes mellitus, or electrolyte imbalances.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of electrolytes and renal function is recommended during treatment with hydrochlorothiazide. It is important to consider the use of this medication in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, as it may increase the risk of complications. Caution should also be exercised in elderly patients, who may be more susceptible to adverse effects.
