Indications
Acarbose is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly in patients who do not achieve adequate blood glucose control through diet and physical exercise. This medication acts as an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, which reduces carbohydrate absorption in the intestine and, therefore, helps control postprandial glucose levels. It is especially useful in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin to improve glycemic control.
Composition
Each tablet contains 50 mg of Acarbose as the active ingredient. Excipients: corn starch, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Acarbose or any of its components. It should not be used in patients with chronic intestinal diseases, severe digestive disorders, severe renal or hepatic insufficiency, and during pregnancy or lactation, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended in patients using Acarbose. Caution is advised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases or those undergoing treatment with other antidiabetics, as it may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Patients should be informed about the possibility of experiencing flatulence, diarrhea, or abdominal pain when starting treatment, as these are common side effects due to the medication's action in the intestine.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
