Protect your children from the sun
Children's skin is much more sensitive than adults', and if it is not well protected from childhood to adolescence, it is more likely to develop problems and diseases later on.
The World Health Organization reports that the sun's ultraviolet radiation causes considerable diseases, including skin cancers and malignant melanomas.
Some reasons why you should prioritize protecting your little ones' skin:
Ø It is less resilient than adult skin
Ø It is thinner
Ø Melanin production and distribution are insufficient
Ø A child's skin immune system is not fully functional
Ø Children absorb three times more radiation than adults
It is advisable to apply special sunscreen for children since their skin is not yet fully developed and requires greater care. Unlike adult formulations, they typically do not contain perfumes, dyes, alcohols, and preservatives in their composition, and are formulated with a higher percentage of physical filters than chemical ones, are more moisturizing, and more water-resistant.
It is important to note that sunscreen is not recommended for babies under 6 months old. If your baby is younger than that, simply protect them with caps, hats, and special shirts, and try to keep them in the shade.
The most important protective measure is to avoid or reduce the time children are exposed to solar radiation. It is advisable to reduce outdoor activities during the middle of the day, make greater use of shaded areas, and avoid intentional exposure to UV radiation.
Remember that skin has memory... protect your little one!
