Indications
Espeflun is indicated for the prevention of rejection in patients who have received a solid organ transplant, such as the kidney, liver, or heart, in combination with other immunosuppressive agents. This medication works by inhibiting nucleotide synthesis in T and B cells, which limits cell proliferation and, therefore, the body's immune response. Specifically, it is used in patients who require immunosuppressive treatment to prevent the immune system's reaction against the new transplanted organ.
Composition
Each Espeflun tablet contains 500 mg of Mycophenolate Mofetil as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Espeflun is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Mycophenolate Mofetil or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in pregnant women, as it can cause fetal harm. Its use is not recommended in patients with active or uncontrolled infections, as well as in those with a history of severe adverse reactions to other immunosuppressive drugs.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of recurrent infections, as the use of Espeflun may increase the risk of infections. In addition, it is suggested to monitor blood cell levels, as the medication can cause leukopenia. The risk of developing neoplasms in patients undergoing prolonged immunosuppressive treatment should also be considered.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
