Indications

Zyloprim is indicated for the treatment of hyperuricemia associated with conditions such as primary or secondary gout, as well as for the prevention of gout attacks. It is also used in the treatment of hyperuricemia associated with certain types of cancer and in situations where a reduction in uric acid levels is required, such as in patients receiving chemotherapy. This medication works by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which results in a decrease in the production of uric acid in the body.

Composition

Each Zyloprim tablet contains 300 mg of allopurinol as the active ingredient, as well as excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and other inert compounds that allow for tablet formulation.

Contraindications

Zyloprim is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to allopurinol or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use should also be avoided in patients with severe renal insufficiency, as well as in those with a history of severe skin reactions to medications. Its use during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated by a physician.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of kidney disease, liver disease, or those who are being treated with other medications that may affect renal function. It is crucial to monitor uric acid levels and renal function during treatment with Zyloprim.
