Indications

Unasal is indicated for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and nails, such as onychomycosis (nail infection) and tinea (skin infection). Terbinafine, its active ingredient, works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of sterols in fungi, which results in their death and elimination from the body. This medication is effective against a variety of dermatophyte fungi and yeasts, commonly used in cases of infection by Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Candida.

Composition

Each Unasal tablet contains 250 mg of terbinafine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Unasal is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to terbinafine or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with active liver disease or a history of chronic liver disease. Likewise, its use in combination with certain medications that affect the liver should be carefully evaluated.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Unasal to patients with a history of kidney or liver disease. It is advisable to perform liver function tests before and during treatment, especially in those patients who present symptoms suggesting liver damage. In case of adverse reactions, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiration date indicated on the box.
