Indications
Unamol (Cisapride) is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders that require increased gastrointestinal motility. It is mainly used in cases of gastroesophageal reflux, functional dyspepsia, and in the management of gastroparesis, a condition that affects stomach emptying. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation and to improve symptoms related to slow intestinal transit. Its action is based on stimulating gastrointestinal tract motility, thus promoting a proper digestive process.
Composition
Each milliliter of Unamol Suspension contains:
- Cisapride 1 mg
- Excipients: Purified water, glycerin, flavoring, preservatives, among others.
Contraindications
Unamol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cisapride or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias, severe hepatic insufficiency, or in combination with medications that prolong the QT interval. Likewise, it is not recommended for patients with mechanical intestinal obstruction or severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Unamol in patients with conditions that may predispose to arrhythmias, and in those undergoing treatment with medications that interact with cisapride metabolism. Adequate clinical monitoring of cardiac and gastrointestinal function is important during treatment with this medication.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
