Indications

Somnocal (Midazolam) is indicated for the induction of general anesthesia, as a sedative in medical and surgical procedures, as well as in the treatment of severe insomnia episodes. Its sedative and anxiolytic action makes it a suitable option for patients requiring anxiety control and sleep induction in specific clinical situations. It is also used in the management of seizures and for premedication before procedures requiring sedation. It should be administered under strict medical supervision, given the potential for adverse effects and the need for dose adjustments based on the patient's clinical response.

Composition

Each Somnocal ampoule contains 5 mg of Midazolam as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration. It is recommended to check the leaflet for detailed information on additional components.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Midazolam or to any of the excipients present in its formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe respiratory insufficiency, sleep apnea syndrome, or in those with a history of substance abuse. Its use should be carefully evaluated in patients with obstructive pulmonary diseases or in those receiving treatments with other central nervous system depressants.

Precautions

Special care should be taken when using Somnocal in elderly patients, in those with liver or kidney diseases, as well as in pregnant or lactating women. Constant monitoring of respiratory and cardiovascular function is important during medication administration. In addition, it is recommended to avoid alcohol intake and other central nervous system depressants, as they can enhance the sedative effects of Midazolam.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the box. The medication must be protected from direct light.
