Indications
Rocaltrol (Calcitriol) is indicated for the treatment of various medical conditions related to vitamin D deficiency. It is used in the management of hypocalcemia in patients with chronic renal failure and osteoporosis, as well as in the treatment of diseases such as renal osteodystrophy. It is also prescribed for the prevention and treatment of rickets in children and for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism, especially in patients with chronic kidney disease. Calcitriol acts by increasing intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus, promoting bone mineralization, and regulating blood calcium levels.
Composition
Each Rocaltrol capsule contains 0.25 mcg of calcitriol as the active ingredient, in addition to inactive excipients.
Contraindications
Rocaltrol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to calcitriol or any of its components. It should also not be used in cases of hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, and Wilson's disease. Its use should be avoided in patients with severe heart disease or in those with conditions that predispose to hypercalcemia.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of calcium and phosphorus levels is recommended in patients receiving Rocaltrol treatment, especially in those with kidney disease. It is important to adjust the dose based on laboratory results. Caution should be exercised in patients with heart disease, as calcitriol may increase the risk of arrhythmias. Concomitant use of other medications that may elevate calcium levels or interfere with vitamin D absorption should be avoided.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
