Indications

Rivotril (Clonazepam) is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of various forms of epilepsy. It is used in the management of epileptic seizures, especially in patients with tonic-clonic and myoclonic seizures. Additionally, it may be prescribed for the treatment of sleep disorders and in situations of severe emotional tension. Its action is based on the potentiation of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmitter activity, which produces a sedative and anxiolytic effect.

Composition

Each Rivotril tablet contains 0.5 mg of Clonazepam as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, starch, talc, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Rivotril is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Clonazepam or any component of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of severe respiratory insufficiency, sleep apnea syndrome, and in patients with a history of drug or alcohol abuse. Its use during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated by a physician.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Rivotril in patients with a history of depression, liver diseases, and in those who are receiving other medications that affect the central nervous system. Treatment should be monitored and adjusted according to the patient's response, avoiding abrupt discontinuation to prevent withdrawal syndrome. Regular patient follow-up is recommended.
