Indications

Quetiapine is indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. In the case of schizophrenia, it is used for the management of positive and negative symptoms. For bipolar disorder, it is used in both manic and depressive episodes. Additionally, it can be used as an adjunct treatment in depression when antidepressants alone are not sufficient.

Composition

Each tablet contains 25 mg of quetiapine as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components.

Contraindications

Quetiapine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to quetiapine or any component of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, or severe liver problems.

Precautions

Patients should be monitored for any signs of tardive dyskinesia or neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Additionally, caution should be exercised in elderly individuals, especially those with dementia, due to an increased risk of adverse events. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment.

Storage

Store in its original packaging at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
