Indications
Prezolax is indicated for the treatment of conditions related to gastric hyperacidity, such as peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Furthermore, it is effective in eradicating Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics, and in preventing gastric ulcers induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Its mechanism of action is based on inhibiting the proton pump, which results in a decrease in acid production in the stomach.
Composition
Each Prezolax ampule contains 40 mg of Omeprazole as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Omeprazole or any of its excipients. It should not be administered in cases of severe hepatic insufficiency, nor in patients with a history of allergic reactions to other proton pump inhibitors. Its use during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated, considering the benefits and risks.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, and in those undergoing prolonged treatment, as there may be a risk of vitamin B12 deficiency. It is recommended to monitor patients who present symptoms of malignancy in the gastrointestinal tract before initiating treatment with Omeprazole. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment without proper medical supervision is not recommended.
