Indications
Precileucin is indicated for the prevention and treatment of folic acid deficiency in situations such as: pregnancy, lactation, megaloblastic anemia, and in patients with malabsorption or who are being treated with medications that interfere with the absorption or metabolism of folic acid. It is also used in the proper formation of red blood cells and in DNA synthesis, which is crucial in cell production. Its use is fundamental to ensure adequate folate levels in the body, especially in pregnant women, for the prevention of congenital neural tube defects in the fetus.
Composition
Each Precileucin ampule contains: 3 mg/ml of Folic Acid.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to folic acid or any of the excipients that make up the formulation. Its use is not recommended in cases of unidentified anemia, as it may mask vitamin B12 deficiency and lead to neurological complications. Likewise, it should be avoided in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to medications.
Precautions
It is recommended to use Precileucin under medical supervision in patients with a history of kidney or liver disease, as well as in those taking other medications that may interact with folic acid. The use of this medication should also be considered in the context of a balanced and adequate diet. Regular medical follow-up during treatment is important to assess response and the continued need for the supplement.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.
