Indications

Palexia Retard is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic moderate to severe pain in adults. It is particularly useful in cases of postoperative pain, oncological pain, and in the management of pain associated with osteoarticular conditions. Its analgesic action is due to the combination of effects on opioid receptors and the inhibition of norepinephrine reuptake, which provides effective and prolonged pain relief. Palexia's extended-release formulation allows for sustained release of the active ingredient, facilitating adequate pain management over prolonged periods.

Composition

Each Palexia Retard tablet contains 50 mg of tapentadol as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that allow for the tablet's formulation, ensuring its stability and controlled release.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tapentadol or any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe respiratory depression, acute or severe bronchial asthma, and in those who are currently being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have stopped such treatment in the previous two weeks.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of substance abuse, severe liver or kidney disease, and in the elderly. Patients should be monitored for the possible appearance of adverse effects, especially in the first days of treatment or when adjusting the dose. Tapentadol administration may increase the risk of respiratory depression, especially when combined with other central nervous system depressants.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, out of reach of children. Protect from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
