Indications
Olmesartan Medoxomil is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. Lowering blood pressure can reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications, such as myocardial infarction and stroke. The medication works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, which causes blood vessel dilation, thereby helping to lower blood pressure. In addition, it can be used in patients with essential hypertension, as well as in those with chronic kidney failure.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg, excipients: lactose, corn starch, talc, and other inactive components.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olmesartan or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. It is also contraindicated in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or in those with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with ACE inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. It is important to monitor kidney function and electrolytes during treatment. Likewise, it is recommended to regularly assess blood pressure to adjust the dose if necessary. Treatment should not be stopped abruptly without adequate medical supervision.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
