Indications

Olmesartan/Hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. This medication combines an angiotensin II receptor blocker (Olmesartan) with a thiazide diuretic (Hydrochlorothiazide), allowing for more effective blood pressure control in patients with essential hypertension. The combination of both components helps reduce blood pressure by acting synergistically at different points in the cardiovascular system, thus improving the therapeutic response compared to using a single antihypertensive agent. Its use is recommended in patients who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy or who have clinical conditions that justify the use of this combination.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Olmesartan medoxomil 40 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure and in those with anuria.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, liver disease, or those taking other medications that may affect kidney function. It is important to periodically monitor blood pressure and kidney function during treatment. In addition, concomitant use with other antihypertensives without proper medical supervision is recommended to be avoided.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
