Indications

Olmesartan/Hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is used both as monotherapy and in combination therapy, especially in patients who do not respond adequately to monotherapy antihypertensives. The combination of olmesartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, acts synergistically to reduce blood pressure through complementary mechanisms. This medication is useful for reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in hypertensive patients.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg as active ingredients. Excipients: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal failure or anuria.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, moderate renal insufficiency, or in those who are receiving diuretics. It is important to monitor blood pressure and kidney function during treatment. In addition, care should be taken when using this medication in elderly patients and in those who may be dehydrated.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
