Indications

Movitrem is indicated as part of an antiretroviral treatment regimen in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age diagnosed with HIV-1. This medication is used for the suppression of viral replication and the improvement of immunological function in patients who have not previously been treated with antiretroviral therapy. The combination of Emtricitabine and Tenofovir has been shown to be effective in reducing viral load in the blood and helping to prevent progression to AIDS. Additionally, it can be used as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in people at high risk of HIV infection.

Composition

Each Movitrem tablet contains 200 mg of Emtricitabine and 245 mg of Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Movitrem is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Emtricitabine, Tenofovir, or any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (Glomerular Filtration Rate < 30 ml/min).

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease or those receiving nephrotoxic medications. Regular monitoring of renal function during treatment is important. Furthermore, the risk of infection by other pathogens should be considered in patients with significant immunosuppression.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
