Indications

Montelukast is indicated for the treatment and prevention of asthma in patients 12 months and older. It is also used for the relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as for the prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. Montelukast's action is based on its ability to block leukotriene receptors, which reduces inflammation and facilitates breathing.

Composition

Each tablet contains 10 mg of montelukast sodium as an active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to montelukast or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with uncontrolled severe medical conditions, such as acute asthma or severe asthma exacerbations.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those who experience behavioral symptoms or mood changes. It is important to consider that Montelukast should not be used as a rescue treatment in emergency asthmatic situations.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
