Indications
Hygroton is indicated in the treatment of essential arterial hypertension. It is also used in the therapy of edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and nephrotic syndrome. Chlorthalidone acts as a diuretic, promoting fluid elimination and helping to reduce blood pressure. It is important to consider that the response to treatment may vary depending on the patient and should be supervised by a physician.
Composition
Each Hygroton tablet contains 50 mg of chlorthalidone as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that aid in the formulation of the medication, which are safe and have been approved by health authorities.
Contraindications
Hygroton is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to chlorthalidone or any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of anuria, severe renal insufficiency, and in patients who present uncorrected electrolyte imbalances, such as hyponatremia or hypocalcemia. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gout, diabetes mellitus, or liver diseases.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of serum electrolytes, especially potassium and sodium, is recommended during treatment with Hygroton. Patients with a history of cardiovascular or renal diseases should be carefully evaluated before starting treatment. In case of experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, or muscle cramps, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date indicated on the package.
