Indications
Glicosar (Pravastatin) is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with risk factors. This medication is used as part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes an appropriate diet, exercise, and weight control. Additionally, it may be indicated in patients who require a reduction in LDL cholesterol after failing to control it with diet and exercise.
Composition
Each Glicosar tablet contains 10 mg of Pravastatin as the active ingredient. It also includes excipients such as lactose, corn starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Glicosar is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to pravastatin or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease or with persistent elevations in transaminases. Furthermore, it is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, or those taking other medications that may interact with pravastatin. It is important to monitor liver function before and during treatment. Additionally, the presence of muscular symptoms should be evaluated, as there is a risk of rhabdomyolysis.
Storage
Store Glicosar at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
