Indications
Futroken is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria, as well as for the prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infections. It is particularly effective in the treatment of acute and chronic cystitis, as well as infections caused by Escherichia coli and other microorganisms sensitive to nitrofurantoin. Furthermore, it can be used in patients with predisposing conditions for urinary tract infections.
Composition
Each Futroken capsule contains 100 mg of nitrofurantoin as the active ingredient. The excipients are suitable for the formulation of soft capsules and are chosen to ensure the stability and efficacy of the medication.
Contraindications
Futroken is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitrofurantoin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance less than 60 ml/min) or those with a history of hepatitis or interstitial lung disease related to this drug.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with kidney, liver, or lung diseases. Likewise, it is recommended to monitor lung function during prolonged treatments, as pulmonary adverse effects may occur. Its use during pregnancy is not recommended, especially during the last trimester, unless strictly necessary.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
