Indications

Fosfocil is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by fosfomycin-sensitive bacteria, including uncomplicated acute cystitis. This molecule acts by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which results in the death of the bacteria. It is relevant for the treatment of infections in adult women and in the context of recurrent infections. Its use is recommended in patients who present symptoms of urinary tract infection, such as dysuria, pollakiuria and urinary urgency, as well as in those with a history of recurrent urinary tract infections.

Composition

Each Fosfocil sachet contains 3 g of fosfomycin (fosfomycin trometamol) as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the product's formulation.

Contraindications

Fosfocil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any of the product's excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal failure or those with severe alterations in renal function.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Fosfocil in patients with a history of kidney disease or those receiving treatment with other medications that may affect kidney function. It is important to monitor renal function during treatment, especially in elderly patients or those with comorbidities. The administration of Fosfocil does not replace the need for adequate medical treatment for the management of complicated urinary tract infections.

Storage

Fosfocil should be stored at room temperature, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
