Indications

Donepezil is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease in adults. This medication acts as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, which increases the concentration of acetylcholine in the brain, helping to improve cognitive function in patients with dementia. Donepezil has been shown to improve memory, attention, and the ability to perform daily activities in patients with cognitive impairment.

Composition

Each tablet contains 10 mg of donepezil hydrochloride as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Donepezil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to donepezil or to any of the product's excipients. Its use is not recommended in people with a history of serious gastrointestinal problems, such as peptic ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or seizures, as Donepezil may exacerbate these conditions. Likewise, it is important to monitor liver and kidney function in patients who present alterations in these organs. Use in combination with other drugs that affect acetylcholine should be carefully evaluated.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
